BUG represents an innovative approach to garden maintenance, designed as a purely mechanical leaf sweeper that eliminates the need for electric motors or fuel consumption.
The design challenge involved creating an efficient leaf collection system powered entirely by manual operation, resulting in an eco-friendly solution that operates silently and requires minimal maintenance.
Through extensive prototyping and mechanical testing, I developed a unique brush mechanism that effectively sweeps and collects leaves while being pushed manually, incorporating ergonomic handle design for comfortable operation.
The sweeper features an innovative collection system with a hinged top-loading design that allows for easy emptying of collected debris, maximizing efficiency during garden cleanup tasks.
Multiple functional prototypes were developed to verify and refine the mechanical systems, testing different brush configurations and collection mechanisms to optimize performance across various terrain types and leaf conditions.
While the project successfully demonstrated functional viability through working prototypes, it remained in the development phase without progressing to commercial production, representing a complete design-to-prototype cycle that validated the innovative mechanical concepts.
